Our Reversible Crayon Caddy Aprons Featured

Today our Caribe Ginger Tile Reversible Crayon Caddy Aprons were featured on a great new blog, Midtown Moms with some other great aprons! Although it is a newer blog, it is obvious that Katie has a great voice and I will definitely be following it!

This blog led me to a great new community devoted to aprons called Apronista where I found a lot of familiar bloggers and crafters like Meg from Montessori by Hand whose patterns I love and I own all but one (so far)!

I am working on three new apron designs tonight so stay tuned!

Hoppy Easter

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter. Things have been so busy around here that the Easter Bunny almost didn't make it! But of course it all worked out in the end and it was a beautiful day together as a family. It was also a little bitter sweet because it was most likely the last day we all had together with our foster baby who has been such a wonderful addition to our home and he will be greatly missed!

Erin Update

I appreciate all of the emails, prayers and concern! I am sorry for the delay in the update it just seemed like there was always one more appt/dr.consult, etc that we were waiting for status on. I am happy to say that Erin's surgery went well and although she is still recovering at home, everything is looking good! She even hosted a get together for Jonas' birthday because she is just that kind of wonderful person AND she looks great with a shaved head!

WHY GOD MADE MOMS

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did Mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dad s are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Warden, Let Me Out!

Cooper HATES when the gate gets closed to the kitchen. In these photos, I am only 3 steps away making breakfast but to get my attention he grabbed a block and kept brushing it back and forth across the bars. It was too funny not to get on camera and share!

Life Is Good

Today was not an extraordinary day, in fact, it wasn't even a necessarily great day from the outside. I woke up today with the goal of getting the house to square one, not sparkling, just in its normal tidy state. That didn't happen until 9:52 (writing this at 9:53 with a relaxing cup of herbal tea).

It wasn't that the house was ever a total mess, it was just one of those days where you can't seem to get anything completed. It was the first full day of being foster parents and as great as he is, adding another baby to the normal daily routine will take some practice. If I just can get them to nap at the same time, life will be golden.

So, the house didn't get clean until bed time, so no sewing or website updates were done, as Dr. Laura would say, that is all just manure anyways.

I didn't get outside to enjoy the beautiful day's sun that shone through my kitchen window but I made time to laugh with my kids, I showed them how our family can help another and try to make a difference AND I somehow was granted a one day reprieve from watching or hearing Sponge Bob Square Pants.

When my 4-year old said the blessing tonight he decided on his own to remind Heavenly Father that it was my Birthday tomorrow and to be sure that I had a great day. That simple gesture tells me that I must be doing something right, at least some of the time!

Happy 100 to Me!

I was about to go to sleep and after visiting my friend Amy's Blog and Etsy Store, I decided to check on "who hearts " My Etsy Store and I hit 100 today, yippee!!!!!

Now how to celebrate......

The Scale Has Broken

My Scale broke today (no, not from my standing on it). At first I thought it may be an answered prayer but then I realized it is most likely a result of my kids who love to play with it. One thing I will miss about it though is Chase's interesting " weigh ins"

He loves to tell me that his hands weigh two zero, his feet weigh four zero and his head weighs zero. I can see him now......he presses down on the scale with his hands getting it close to twenty. Then he stands on it (getting his actual weight of 40 pounds), then he puts his head on it but in order to see what it weighs, he has to lift his head giving him a zero.......sigh......these moments remind me why I love having kids!

Little Ways to Say... I LOVE YOU!

Growing up, breakfast was always a big thing. My mom always made sure to start off the day right with a good meal. When I became a mom, this tradition was passed on. I love to find fun ways to present breakfast just a little different to make them smile. A favorite with my 4 year old has been Alien Pancakes but today I thought I'd suprise them with a little reminder that I "heart" them!
Even though they are rough and tough boys they are big ol' softies when it comes to their mom!
Even Coopergot in on the fun!

Calling All Prayers

When Jonas was just a baby, my sister-in-law and I had a wonderful babysitter named Erin. Through the years, she became part of the family. After my first husband and I divorced I still remained close to him and most of his family and also to Erin. Then, the greatest thing happened- and she and my ex-husband began dating a few years ago. It is such an amazing thing to have someone you adore and trust become "the other mommy" to your child. If I have to share part of my role as a mom to Jonas, at least I get to share it with someone like Erin!

Last Wednesday, Erin went to the emergency room because she was dizzy and vomiting. They found a tumor on the base of her brain stem and she has been in the hospital ever since because she is at risk for seizures because of the swelling of her brain. Today they are going to perform brain surgery to try to remove and biopsy the tumor.....did I mention it is all taking place while she is awake!!! Because of the position of the tumor, it is a risky surgery. If you can find time to say a small prayer for her today, I know it can help!

Thank-you!!
